CTO Paul Butcher has the enviable task of leading Texperts’ highly-talented team of technical wizards. Apart from the occasional need for cat-herding, this mainly involves sitting back and allowing them to make him look good!
In his chequered history of working for startups (some of them admittedly more successful than others), Paul has had the privilege of working with several great teams on cutting edge technology. As CTO of Smartner, he led the team developing the award-winning “Duality Always-on Mail” which was subsequently acquired by SEVEN Networks and forms the heart of their current product line.
In a desperate attempt to demonstrate that he’s at least as fast as Lewis Hamilton, Paul managed to write off his race car at Silverstone at the first race of the season. So no more playing with expensive toys this year — but he will be back! His current phone is a flashy high-end Windows Mobile device which would be great if it ever worked. He’s trying to pick through the hype around the iPhone to work out if he wants one or not, and has recently taken delivery of an OpenMoko.
Paul’s favourite site is the F1 technical site, where he can keep up-to-speed with the latest developments in Formula One.
