We need clever people to help us build great technology

This position has now been filled - sorry!

82ASK uses a mix of ground-breaking technology and clever people to enable anyone to text any question to 82275 (82ASK on the mobile handset) and receive an answer in minutes.

We are expanding and are looking for a bright, motivated individual to join our small technology team based in the heart of Cambridge. This is an opportunity for the right candidate to make a huge contribution to our future direction. We’re flexible regarding the level of experience (and salary) that we’re looking for and are prepared to consider applications from recent graduates or people with many years experience. We’re far more interested in your innate ability and “fit” with the existing team!

The following are requirements:

  • Bright and enthusiastic
  • Fast learner, quick to pick up new concepts and technologies
  • Open minded
  • Detail and quality-oriented. Our service runs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and 5 minutes downtime would be a disaster!

The kinds of technologies we use include (many of these are bleeding edge and would look great on your CV!):

  • Natural Language Processing
  • Machine Learning
  • Agile (iterative, incremental) development methodologies (Scrum, XP, Crystal)
  • Test-first (or test-driven) development
  • Web development (HTML, XHTML, XML, CSS, XSLT, SOAP, REST)
  • Ruby on Rails
  • Database administration (MySQL)
